In brief
Her story highlights the power of resilience and advocacy in fighting for rights and opportunities for marginalized communities.
Isidora Uribe Silva faces a unique journey shaped by her early experiences with discrimination. At just 12, she suffered bullying in a new school where her cerebral palsy became a target for her peers. "Before, it never posed any issues, but the transition made me realize the harsh realities of systemic exclusion," she reflected. After a difficult seven-month hiatus from education, she found acceptance at Institución Teresiana in Santiago, Chile. Now 20 and studying law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Ms. Uribe Silva has transformed her challenges into a passionate advocacy for inclusion policies, with a focus on women and individuals with disabilities. Her advocacy journey began at 13 when she created Encuentra Tu Lugar (Find Your Place), an app designed to help disabled individuals locate accessible parking throughout Chile. Since then, her ambitions have expanded significantly. She founded a foundation under the same name to further enhance her outreach and support for similarly marginalized populations. As a member of the Generation Equality Adolescent Committee for U.N. Women, she champions gender equality and strives for women's representation in leadership roles. Ms. Uribe Silva's story is not just about overcoming personal adversity; it illustrates her incredible commitment to fostering inclusivity, both locally in Chile and on a global stage. Through her work, she seeks to dismantle the barriers that marginalized groups face, demonstrating that one person's fight can inspire change for many.
