Tragic Discovery: Abducted Canadian Miners Found Dead in Mexico
A Canadian mining company has confirmed that some of its workers, abducted from a project site in Mexico last month, have been found dead.
Ten employees of Vancouver-based Vizsla Silver Corp have been missing since January 23, when they were taken from a mining site near Concordia, Mexico. Family members of some of the kidnapped workers reported that their relatives were discovered deceased.
Vizsla Silver Corp stated they are awaiting confirmation from Mexican authorities and will provide updates as appropriate.
Following this heartbreaking news, Vizsla’s president and CEO, Michael Konnert, expressed devastation over the loss of life, extending his condolences to the families of affected workers. Konnert emphasized that the company’s focus remains on the safe recovery of those still missing.
One family member shared a personal account, revealing that he identified the body of his 43-year-old brother, José Manuel Castañeda Hernández, a geologist.
In truth, this has been very painful to be here, in a place where we don't want to be, José's brother, Jaime Castañeda, told CBC, concluding with, There's no justice with what's happening.
