A Mississippi man has been charged with stalking and vandalism following alarming incidents involving actress Jennifer Aniston. Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, 48, from New Albany, allegedly drove through the front gate of Aniston's Bel Air residence on Monday after a two-year campaign of harassment, as outlined by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. If convicted, Carwyle could face up to three years in prison.
Carwyle is accused of continuously sending Aniston unsolicited communications, including messages over social media and voicemail, starting March 1, 2023. District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman underscored the seriousness of stalking, warning that it can escalate from harassment to potentially dangerous actions.
On the day of the incident, Carwyle reportedly crashed his vehicle into Aniston's gated property, causing significant damage before stopping in her driveway. He was subsequently apprehended by her security personnel until law enforcement arrived.
In a recent feature in Architectural Digest, Aniston's expansive home was highlighted for its midcentury-modern design, the same location where she hosted her wedding to actor Justin Theroux in 2015, prior to their divorce.
Friends of Carwyle revealed that his obsession began after the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Marty Merritt, a longtime acquaintance in Mississippi, Carwyle had sent increasingly bizarre messages, including claims of divinity, leading him to believe that God intended for him to marry Aniston. Merritt expressed his concern for Aniston in a Facebook video, apologizing for the troubling events she has faced.
Aniston has yet to publicly comment on the matter as the situation continues to unfold.
