Local officials said a fellow student smuggled a .45‑calibre pistol into a classroom and fired at a teacher, missing the target, before moving to another room where he shot a fellow student who later died.
The suspect then took his own life, bringing the incident to a close. Livestream footage circulating on local media showed a first‑person perspective of the attack, heightening the community’s grief.
This tragedy comes just two months after a high‑school shooting in Tacloban City that left three students dead and 20 wounded. Authorities have noted a link between the perpetrators’ interest in violent online games and the two incidents.
