In a dramatic turn of events during Sean "Diddy" Combs' trial, Scott Mescudi—better known as Kid Cudi—testified about alleged threats and a violent incident he claims involved the rap mogul. In his two-hour testimony, Mescudi asserted that Combs was connected to a Molotov cocktail attack that severely damaged his car, as well as a break-in at his Los Angeles home.
Mescudi’s connection to the case arose from his past relationship with Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, whom he dated briefly in 2011. Recounting alarming moments from their interactions, Mescudi described a frantic call he received from Ventura detailing Combs’ discovery of their relationship. This led him to rush to her safety and return to his home—where he discovered his security cameras were positioned incorrectly, Christmas gifts were ransacked, and his dog was stressed and locked in the bathroom.
The alleged Molotov cocktail incident occurred in January 2012, shortly after Mescudi's relationship with Ventura ended. He testified that he received a call from his dogsitter about the car explosion, which left his Porsche damaged with a significant hole in the roof. Prosecutors presented photographic evidence of the vehicle's charred interior. Although Diddy denied involvement during a later discussion, Mescudi maintains his claims.
The trial, which entered its third week, also featured testimonies from other witnesses, including makeup artist Mylah Morales, who expressed concern for Ventura's wellbeing after observing her injuries. Meanwhile, Frederic Zemmour, a hotel manager, spoke regarding Combs' habitual behavior during his stays.
As the trial continues into next week, the jury will hear from Capricorn Clark, who reportedly contacted Mescudi during the alleged home invasion. Combs faces severe charges including racketeering and sex trafficking, and he has pled not guilty, firmly denying a slew of civil accusations echoing the criminal allegations.
