Irish Police Reach Across Borders in Murder Investigation


In a tragic incident on Tuesday, Gardaí were called to a residence in Killarney where a woman in her 40s, identified as Jamey Carney, was pronounced dead. The victim had recently migrated from New York, settling in county Kerry about five years prior.


Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan announced the gardaí’s intent to engage Jordanian law‑enforcement resources, noting that the suspect—known to the victim—has already departed the jurisdiction. Identified as a “person of interest,” he allegedly travelled via Dublin and a flight to the Middle East, where no extradition treaty exists with Ireland.


According to the gardaí, Interpol and Europol were alerted, and the Irish police commissioner has confirmed strong connections with international partners. “We will pursue every line of inquiry to bring any charged individual to justice,” O’Callaghan said.


RTÉ reports the investigation will continue as the gardaí explore all avenues while coordinating with foreign agencies.
