Drone Strike on Russian Beach Claims Seven Lives, 40 Injured

A drone launched from Ukrainian territory struck a busy beach resort on the Black Sea near the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka, killing seven people, including three children, and leaving 40 people injured, according to local authorities.

Video recovered from social media shows the drone flying toward a cliff and detonating over the beach below, casting a bright fireball as tourists looked on from the shore and in the water. The footage highlights the chaotic scene of the attack.

The Governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, said 17 of the wounded were hospitalized and called the strike a deliberate attack on civilians. Ukraine has not issued a comment; both parties have denied intentionally targeting civilians.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that gunfire was heard prior to the explosion. Some Ukrainian Telegram channels claim that electronic warfare may have jammed the drone, causing its crash, while Russian media reports that air defences might have fired at the drone before it detonated.

The resort area is a popular destination for Russian holidaymakers, especially as international travel has been limited by sanctions. Residents and visitors reported that no sirens sounded before the attack, adding to the confusion and shock among those on the beach.
