STAFFORD, VA — A single bus slammed into six vehicles on I‑95 southbound in Stafford County, killing five people and transporting 34 others to hospitals, Virginia state police announced Friday.
The collision took place around 2:35 a.m. as traffic slowed for an upcoming work zone. All five fatalities were occupants of the cars hit by the bus, and three of the injured patients are presently critical.
A preliminary investigation by state police indicates that the southbound traffic had been braking for a work zone when the bus failed to reduce speed appropriately, leading to the fatal collision.}
