In March 2025, as the world reflects on the Covid-19 pandemic, we invited 19 photographers to recall their most memorable images from this global crisis. The photos they took during those tumultuous times serve not only as historical documentation but also as a means of emotional connection to the collective experience of living through a pandemic.
These photographers were not just observers; they were part of a shared reality marked by fear, isolation, and longing for connection. Each image transports viewers back to moments that defined the pandemic, allowing us to remember the collective anxiety and heartwarming acts of resilience that emerged.
Among the most striking stories comes from Hong Kong in January 2020, when the first patient was reported. A male traveler from Wuhan was suspected of having the novel coronavirus, prompting an urgent response from the Food and Health Bureau. One photographer found themselves amid the scene at the crowded hospital where the patient was brought in, surrounded by journalists, as paramedics clad in protective equipment whisked the patient away.
The very close encounter with the patient made the reality of the situation palpable, showcasing not only the uncertainty but also the human element behind the headlines. This moment, like many captured during the pandemic, reflects a broader narrative of loss and resilience, inviting everyone to remember those times—a reminder that, through adversity, humanity found ways to endure and connect.
As we continue to move forward, these enduring images serve as vital artifacts of a global crisis that reshaped daily life, highlighting both the struggles we faced and the unwavering spirit of those who persevered.
