CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Hunter Nadeau, a 23-year-old from Nashua, faces serious charges after a shooting at the Sky Meadow Country Club where one person was killed and two others were injured. Nadeau, a former club employee, was apprehended nearby and is set to appear in court Monday.

During the incident, Robert DeCesare Jr., 59, was fatally shot while trying to protect his wife and daughter. His widow described the harrowing moment, stating, My husband got caught in the fire trying to protect us.

Attorney General John Formella acknowledged the bravery of patrons who intervened to subdue Nadeau, preventing further bloodshed. Michael Homewood, a DJ at the wedding, reported that someone struck Nadeau with a chair, potentially saving lives in the process.

He hit him over the head with a chair, and he probably saved a bunch of lives just doing that, Homewood told local news reporters.

The shooting scene was marked by fear and chaos as wedding guests ducked for cover after hearing gunfire. Witnesses reported hearing the shooter shout phrases before the violence erupted.

As investigators seek a motive, it's been confirmed that there was only one shooter, with additional charges likely to be filed against Nadeau. Of the two injured victims, one remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Governor Kelly Ayotte extended support to the victims' families, emphasizing the community's resilience in the wake of this tragedy. The incident, which shocked the Nashua community, raises poignant questions about safety and security in public spaces.
