The Metropolitan Police have announced the arrest of 26-year-old Stanislav Carpiuc on charges of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. These charges stem from three separate incidents involving fires that occurred earlier this month. The first blaze ignited on May 12, outside Mr. Starmer’s former residence in Kentish Town, North London. The Prime Minister and his family resided there until their recent move to the Downing Street official residence following Starmer's victory in the general election.

A day before the Kentish Town incident, another fire occurred at a residential building located in Islington, a place where Mr. Starmer had lived during the 1990s. Additionally, there was a car fire in Kentish Town on May 8, targeting a vehicle previously owned by Starmer that had since been sold.

Despite the severity of the offenses, it is reported that no injuries resulted from these incidents, although the door of the rental property in Kentish Town sustained damage. Given the involvement of a prominent public figure, counterterrorism police have been spearheading the investigation.

Carpiuc's alleged co-conspirator, Roman Lavrynovych, a 21-year-old man from Ukraine, had his court appearance last week. During that session at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, prosecutor Sarah Przybylska highlighted the connection of the properties and the vehicle to Prime Minister Starmer, noting that the circumstances surrounding the alleged offenses remain unclear at this point.

Carpiuc was apprehended at London Luton Airport by counterterrorism officers and is slated to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday as the investigation continues.
