French law enforcement officials are interrogating a man on suspicion of involvement in a murder case following the grim discovery of four bodies in the Seine River, located near Paris. The initial body was found on August 13 by a passer-by near a bridge in Choisy-le-Roi, a suburb southeast of the capital. Shortly after this discovery, police conducted a search and uncovered three additional bodies in close proximity to the first.
Prosecutors have indicated that one of the deceased individuals was strangled, while another displayed signs of violent trauma. The suspect, who remains unnamed, is currently in custody in Paris, with police withholding details regarding the number of alleged murders under investigation.
The first victim’s identity was confirmed; he was a 40-year-old local resident whose remains had only recently entered the water. In contrast, the bodies of the other three victims were discovered in a significantly advanced state of decomposition, posing challenges for investigators.
Authorities have emphasized that, at this stage, there is no evidence to suggest a connection among the victims, indicating the possibility that they might have entered the river at different locations upstream and, due to the current, ended up at the base of the Choisy bridge.
