Zou Zhenhao, 28, a Chinese national and former mechanical engineering student at the University College London, is poised to be sentenced after being found guilty of drugging and raping at least ten women during his time in the UK and his home country of China. The Metropolitan Police have classified him as one of the most severe predators they have encountered, and investigators have uncovered evidence indicating that he may have victimized many more, with around 50 other potential victims identified from videos recorded in his residences.
The criminal activities spanned from September 2019 to May 2023, with Zou employing social media and dating platforms to lure women before incapacitating them with a mixture of drugs that impacted their memory. This method raises the grim possibility that several victims may remain unaware of their assault due to their inability to recall the events that transpired.
Commander Kevin Southworth, who led the investigation, expressed concern over the extent of the crimes, noting, "The sad fact of it is that there may well be some women on those videos who we may never identify, either because the images are too poor or we just can’t find them wherever they are in the world." Following Zou's conviction, police are actively reaching out to other potential victims, urging them to come forward and share their experiences.
