A Westminster magistrate has turned down the extradition plea of Kimberlee Singler, a US mother accused of murdering her two children in Colorado and fleeing to the UK. The tragic incident occurred on December 19, 2023, when police discovered the bodies of nine-year-old Elianna and seven-year-old Aden at their home in Colorado Springs. Arrested in west London on December 30, Singler's case has drawn significant attention both in the US and abroad.
District Judge John Zani stated that he found no grounds to uphold Singler’s challenge against extradition, allowing the case to move forward for consideration by the UK home secretary. Prosecutors have described the alleged murders as taking place in a volatile situation surrounding custody disputes with her ex-spouse, Kevin Wentz.
On the day of the incident, authorities responded to a 911 call regarding a possible burglary. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the children deceased alongside a "blood-stained handgun" in the bedroom. Subsequent DNA analysis indicated the presence of blood from both children and Singler on both a handgun and a knife also recovered from the residence. A third unnamed child was discovered with severe neck injuries but survived and was taken to the hospital.
In the court proceedings, Singler attributed the attack to her husband, stating he was responsible, but prosecutors countered this claim with evidence of a strong alibi: he was tracked by GPS to a location in Denver at the time of the incident.
