French law enforcement is currently probing the circumstances surrounding the discovery of four bodies in the River Seine, leading to the arrest of a suspect connected to the case. The unsettling incident unfolded in Choisy-le-Roi, a suburb located southeast of central Paris, where the first body was discovered by a passerby on August 13.

On that same day, law enforcement began a search in the area, resulting in the unfortunate find of three additional bodies nearby. Reports from prosecutors revealed that one of the victims had been strangled, while another exhibited signs of violent trauma.

Details about the suspect, who is currently being held in custody in Paris, have not been made public, nor has police released information on how many murders he may be implicated in.

Initial investigations suggested that the first body, identified as a 40-year-old local man, had recently entered the water. The three other victims, however, were found in what authorities described as a "very advanced state of decomposition."

Moreover, prosecutors have noted that, at this stage, there is no evidence establishing a connection between the victims, indicating that they may have been submerged at different locations upstream before being carried down by the river's current to the bridge area in Choisy-le-Roi.
