Ukraine’s Air Defenses Crumble: 115 Drones, 24 Missiles, 21 Lives Lost

A night that will be etched in the memory of the region saw the sky littered with 115 Russian drones and 24 ballistic missiles that struck Ukrainian territory. The barrage took twenty‑one lives and left many more injured, illustrating the cost of the conflict.

While Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted a number of the drones, the limited air defence capacity was overwhelmed, allowing several missiles to break through and wreak havoc on civilian areas.

Among the hardest hit was the home of Anastasiia Dudley, whose property suffered significant damage. She described the night as the scariest she has experienced in the war, a sentiment echoed by many residents.

British journalist Dan Johnson visited the damaged household in the Kyiv region to witness the extent of the destruction and to capture the emotional toll on the resident community.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the intensifying threat to civilian life in Ukraine and the pressing need to strengthen defence capabilities across the country.
