Police are investigating an apparent homicide after two people were found dead at the Los Angeles home of director and actor Rob Reiner.
Firefighters were called to a house in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, where they found a 78-year-old man and 68-year-old woman, the LA Fire Department reported. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities did not immediately disclose the identities of the deceased or details regarding the circumstances of their deaths.
Rob Reiner, who is also 78, and his wife Michele, aged 68, were not identified as the individuals found.
Renowned for his classics such as The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally, Reiner's legacy in Hollywood has been significant. A spokesperson from the Los Angeles Fire Department stated that they received a call for medical aid around 3:38 PM local time.
Brentwood is known as an upscale area in LA, populated by many celebrities. Following the discovery of the bodies, robbery homicide detectives responded and have initiated an investigation into what they describe as an apparent homicide.
Inside the residence, authorities confirmed the discovery of two deceased individuals, but further details regarding their deaths have not been disclosed.
Rob Reiner's notable career includes a stint as a TV star in the 1970s with his role as Meathead on All in the Family. He was previously married to actress Penny Marshall and later married Michele Reiner in 1989. The couple shares three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy.
