A sudden tornado ripped through the Italian city of Marsala and the neighboring town of Petrosino in Sicily, injuring two residents and toppling buildings and vehicles.
Local eyewitnesses described the violent storm as it flipped cars and tore roofs off homes, while emergency crews worked to clear debris and assess the extent of the damage.
The tornado erupted from a cluster of thunderstorms that hit the island on Friday evening, bringing violent winds and hail to many parts of the region.
Authorities have advised residents to stay alert, as forecast models predict that additional severe weather could affect sections of the central Mediterranean in the coming days.
