The Wiggles, a beloved Australian children's music group, recently addressed concerns following the appearance of two of their members in a music video perceived to make light of drug use. In a statement, the group reaffirmed their stance against drug use and clarified that the video was made without their consent.
Members Anthony Field, known as the Blue Wiggle, and his nephew Dominic Field, who plays the Tree of Wisdom, were seen in the background of Keli Holiday's Ecstasy music video, which has since been removed from social media. The group stated that the video, which viewed over 92,000 times before its deletion, does not reflect their values.
In their statement to The West Australian, The Wiggles expressed understanding of the distress caused to parents, declaring, We do not support or condone the use of drugs in any form... This content was not created or approved by us, and we have asked for its removal. They noted that while Keli Holiday is a friend, the video wasn’t created in collaboration with their team.
The footage was captured during the TikTok Awards, where The Wiggles appeared alongside Holiday during his song 'Dancing2,' emphasizing that their segment was designed to be suitable for families. Holiday, also famous as part of the electronic duo Peking Duk, aimed to promote his single with the provocative lyrics about drug use.
As a foundational pillar of children's entertainment since 1991, The Wiggles have grown into a global phenomenon, with their family-friendly approach remaining at the forefront of their mission. Amidst this incident, they continue to uphold their commitment to providing wholesome entertainment for young audiences.
