A controversial internet streamer who goes by the name Clavicular has been arrested in South Florida on a battery charge.

Braden Eric Peters, also known as Clavicular, was taken into custody on Thursday by Fort Lauderdale police following a battery investigation stemming from an incident last month in central Florida, according to investigators.

Peters is accused of instigating a fight between two women and then posting a video of it on social media, authority reports state. The BBC has attempted to contact Peters.

Clavicular is known for his role in an online movement centered on maximising physical attractiveness, referred to as 'looksmaxxing'.

A 19-year-old woman reported that she had been battered by Violet Marie Lentz, 24, during a physical altercation at a residence rented by Peters on February 2, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office stated.

When deputies arrived at the location, Peters and Lentz reportedly refused to speak to them about the incident.

A warrant was subsequently issued for Peters on charges of misdemeanour battery and criminal conspiracy to commit battery, along with a warrant for Lentz for similar reasons. Authorities are still searching for Lentz, as confirmed by the sheriff's office told the BBC.

Peters' bond was set at $1,000, and he was released late on Friday.

In a separate incident, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced they are launching an investigation into a video showing an alligator being shot at multiple times in the Florida Everglades, featuring Peters and others on an airboat discharging firearms at the animal. However, it remains unclear whether this investigation pertains specifically to Peters, as the commission has not responded to inquiries from the BBC.

Clavicular has gained notoriety as an influencer and streamer, often showcasing extreme methods he employs in attempts to enhance his physical appearance, including the use of steroids and extreme self-trauma.

His promotion of 'looksmaxxing' has fostered a burgeoning subculture that is increasingly moving from the fringes of the internet into mainstream awareness.
