US television presenter Savannah Guthrie again reaches out to those allegedly involved in her mother Nancy’s abduction with a new video plea on social media.
In the clip added on Monday, Guthrie repeatedly calls on the kidnappers: "I’m asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now. Help us find her – tell us where to look for her."
Nancy Guthrie, an 84‑year‑old with a history of atrial fibrillation, was last seen on 31 January when she was dropped off at her Tucson, Arizona, home by relatives. She failed to appear the next day for a virtual church service, and investigators say she was taken against her will.
Law‑enforcement officials have not yet identified a motive or arrested a suspect. Two ransom notes were sent to media and the family in the days after the disappearance, one demanding billions in Bitcoin, the other claiming Nancy had died, though investigators suspect many notes are fakes.
The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate, and the media has been instructed by police to hold off on publishing the details of the notes while the case remains active.
