Sabrina Carpenter Secures Temporary Restraining Order After Home Intrusion
Los Angeles, 2 June 2026 – Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has successfully secured a temporary restraining order against a man who repeatedly breached the perimeter of her home, according to court filings accessed by BBC‑partner CBS.
The lawsuit details a series of attempts by William Applegate to enter Carpenter’s residence in early May. In the most recent incident on 23 May, Applegate arrived on the property, attempted entry, rang the doorbell, and refused to leave until police arrived. The next day he returned and parked near the house, loitering for hours. He allegedly resurfaced again within 24 hours, causing Carpenter to describe the attacks as among the most “disturbing violations of personal safety and privacy” she has ever encountered.
Carpenter, 27, who holds several top‑three singles worldwide, allegedly filed a signed declaration highlighting a pattern of stalking, trespassing and surveillance. The star’s legal team included video footage from a door‑bell camera and statements from Los Angeles Police Department detectives. Detective Peter Doomanis filed a declaration affirming that Applegate’s conduct is “developed from a disturbing and irrational fixation on the petitioner,” labeling the series of incidents as a classic stalking sequence.
Judge magistrate Chris Goldham temporarily granted the restraining order on Friday. The order bars Applegate from the 100‑yard radius surrounding Carpenter, her residence, her vehicles, her workplace and her co‑habitants, including her sister and sister’s partner.
A follow‑up hearing is scheduled for 17 June, where the case’s status will be reviewed. Applegate is expected to appear in criminal court on 18 June, charged with criminal trespassing for his repeated entries.
