Netanyahu Rejects Trump’s 15‑point Gaza Plan
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed President Donald Trump’s 15‑point Gaza peace plan, saying Israel will not pull troops until Hamas is truly disarmed.
The plan, announced by Trump’s Board of Peace, includes full disarmament, troop withdrawal and reconstruction of Gaza. Trump claimed it was a monumental step toward lasting peace.
Hamas has linked its acceptance of the plan to an end of Israeli aggression and the halt of forces in the territory. They require a complete halt to all forms of military activity before handing over weapons.
Netanyahu, speaking at a cabinet meeting, warned that Israel would not withdraw forces until Hamas was genuinely disarmed and threats against Israel’s forces were thwarted.
Netanyahu said he was now in discussion with U.S. officials about how to proceed and that he was prepared to stand firm on the matter.
The timing of the rejection comes as Israel prepares for elections and faces pressure from far‑right allies to back down from the Gaza plan. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and others have dismissed the draft as unacceptable.
The fallout underscores the difficulty of reconciling U.S. aspirations for a Gaza ceasefire with Israeli security concerns and Hamas’s conditions for negotiation.
