Warning: Contains disturbing content and graphic descriptions of sexual acts
A man running a sex ring operating out of Dubai's most glamorous neighbourhoods, and exploiting vulnerable women, has been identified by a BBC investigation.
Charles Mwesigwa, claiming to be a former London bus driver, offered women for high-priced sex parties, capitalizing on their desperation. Many women, believing they were traveling for legitimate work, found themselves trapped within a web of exploitation.
Grim accounts from women reveal extreme humiliation and violence perpetuated by clients, including disturbing fetishes. The horrific story of Monic Karungi, one of Mwesigwa's victims who died under suspicious circumstances—falling from a high-rise building—highlights the lack of protection for migrant workers.
Undercover journalists traced Mwesigwa, uncovering a business built on manipulation and lies. Despite accusations, he continues to deny running a sex ring, claiming to merely facilitate connections between wealthy clients and women.
As the BBC delves deeper, the investigation sheds light on a broader issue of human trafficking in the UAE, where many are lured by promises of work but find themselves in circumstances far worse than they anticipated.
