Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia will become the next White House press secretary for President Trump, according to a White House source confirmed by BBC.
Zacharia has spent the past year working as a communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group and on the former president’s Truth Social platform, and she held a brief stint at the Department of Homeland Security in February–March 2024.
She will join the White House as the sixth chief spokesperson in the administration’s two terms, following the departure of Karoline Leavitt, who has moved on to Fox News.
The press secretary role goes beyond podium speaking – it involves managing relationships with a demanding press corps, coordinating with other White House offices and providing the president with media strategy and crisis communications.
White House officials declined to comment at the time of publication, but the decision underscores the administration’s preference for a spokesperson who aligns closely with its media and messaging priorities.
