Norwegian authorities have revealed that Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, is under investigation for grave charges, including three counts of rape and numerous other offenses totaling 23 allegations. The 28-year-old, who lacks an official royal title and duties, was arrested on three occasions last year, specifically in August, September, and November, as part of an ongoing inquiry initiated by police.

Following a ten-month investigation, authorities have forwarded the case to prosecutors. Police attorney Andreas Kruszewski confirmed that this transfer will lead to a determination regarding potential charges. Høiby's lawyer, Petar Sekulic, emphasized that his client is taking the accusations seriously, yet denies wrongdoing in most of the cases, particularly concerning claims of sexual abuse and violence.

Initially arrested on August 4, 2024, for suspected assault, Høiby has since been under scrutiny. The Oslo Police District publicly stated that they conducted a comprehensive investigation, which included numerous witness interviews, searches, and the examination of vast digital materials. Høiby was interrogated multiple times throughout the autumn of 2024 and spring of 2025, and “cooperated with police,” as outlined in their statement.

Among the multitude of offenses attributed to Høiby are four counts of engaging in sexually offensive conduct, one count of abuse in a relationship, and two counts of bodily harm. However, police have noted that some allegations relating to sexual offenses were dismissed due to elapsed statute limitations and evidentiary issues.

While investigators confirmed that the number of victims involved in the case is in double digits, they refrained from providing further details. The Royal House of Norway stated that they would not comment further on the ongoing legal process.
