CARBONDALE, Kan. (AP) — Four law enforcement officers were shot Saturday morning while responding to a residence in a rural area south of Topeka, Kansas. The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m., with three Osage County sheriff’s deputies and one Kansas Highway Patrol trooper among those shot, as per Kansas Bureau of Investigation spokesperson Melissa Underwood.

The conditions of the officers involved are currently described as “still very fluid,” according to Underwood. A male suspect involved in the incident has reportedly died from gunshot wounds, while another male was injured and has been taken to a hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Authorities stated that deputies and troopers had been responding to a domestic violence incident when gunfire erupted. Multiple law enforcement agencies promptly responded to the shooting.
