British rapper Yung Filly faces a retrial on three rape charges in Australia.
The 31‑year‑old YouTube star, whose birth name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was charged with repeatedly raping and assaulting a fan after a Perth nightclub gig in 2024. He denied all ten charges and a jury found him not guilty on three counts of rape.
He was acquitted of one assault and a strangulation charge, but was convicted on two separate assault counts, for which a sentence will be handed out after the retrial.
During the trial, Barrientos testified that a consensual sexual act had taken place in his hotel room before the alleged violent behaviour. His defence argued inconsistencies in the complainant’s evidence, while the prosecutor described him as an "entitled" public figure who violated the fan “in the most intrusive way possible”.
Barrientos will next appear in court on 27 August to seek a variation of his bail. No date has yet been set for the retrial, and the prosecution has confirmed the victim is ready to provide fresh evidence.
