At least two people have been killed and 11 injured in a new Russian overnight drone attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv, according to local officials. One of the victims was a one-year-old baby, whose body was pulled from the rubble, as reported by Kyiv's military administration head, Tymur Tkachenko. A young woman is also believed to have been killed in the attack.

The drone strike occurred overnight, coinciding with strikes in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky in central Ukraine, where three infrastructure facilities were affected. Air raid warnings were activated throughout the country as explosions shook the city, with reports of damage to multi-storey residential buildings.

Officials have accused Russian forces of intentionally targeting civilian areas. Tkachenko urged residents of Kyiv to take shelter during these perilous times. The attacks come as Russian President Vladimir Putin has intensified his warnings against Western nations assisting Ukraine.

In addition to Kyiv, several districts reported significant damage with ongoing fires in homes following direct hits. Russian military officials have yet to comment on the reported drone strikes.

Recently, Putin dismissed proposals from Western powers concerning security guarantees for Ukraine, framing any military presence in Ukraine as legitimate targets. This incident adds to the tragic tally of family and civilian losses amid the conflict that escalated with Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.}
