Feb. 27, 2025, 3:05 a.m. ET Online influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are entangled in a criminal investigation in Romania, departed the country for the United States on Thursday, as confirmed by a source familiar with the situation. The brothers boarded a flight early Thursday morning, with the individual choosing to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the news. The State Department has yet to provide a comment. The Tates have been in Romania since 2022, embroiled in a prolonged legal battle with authorities who initially charged them with human trafficking and money laundering. While they successfully appealed their indictment, Romanian prosecutors announced they are pursuing new investigations into additional charges of human trafficking and financial crimes. In Britain, Andrew Tate faces accusations of sexual misconduct, adding to the mounting legal challenges. A court in Bucharest previously ruled for the brothers' extradition to Britain following the resolution of the current Romanian cases. Although they were released from house arrest, they were still subject to judicial supervision in Romania. Their legal representative described the brothers as “political hostages.” This is a developing story. Follow us for more updates.
