In a high-profile court appearance at Southwark Crown Court, Russell Brand entered his plea of not guilty to five charges, including rape and sexual assault. He acknowledged each charge by responding "not guilty," before thanking the court usher as he left. Following his arrest in April, Brand addressed fans via video, insisting he has never participated in non-consensual sexual activities. "I’m now going to have the opportunity to defend these charges in court and I’m incredibly grateful for that,” he expressed. The entertainer, originally from Essex, reached significant fame through his comedic career and as a presenter on shows like "Big Brother's Big Mouth." He later transitioned to Hollywood with roles in movies such as "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him To The Greek." As he awaits trial, Brand remains on conditional bail, with a pre-trial review set for May 20, 2026.
